The older you get, the more tired you tend to get. Unfortunately, this is a double-edged sword because the older you get, the more sleep troubles you may develop. Many older adults find themselves struggling not only to fall asleep but stay asleep, making for shorter nights.
Unfortunately, this leads to requiring more naps throughout the day, which really isn’t so bad of a thing if you think about it. Studies show that power naps can actually be a great thing, not only for rejuvenating your energy levels but also for improving your mood. Not to mention, a quick 5-minute nap can do wonders for your memory and also your productivity.
Your Diet Needs Work
What you eat is ultimately what determines how much energy you have; in other words, your food is your fuel, so if you’re not eating a balanced diet full of all the right minerals and nutrients, then you’re only going to find yourself hitting an energy dip at some point.
Skipping meals, eating too much sugar, or eating meals that are full of empty calories is going to lead to fatigue. Instead, focus on whole foods, stay hydrated, and consider supplementing your meals with additional vitamins. While the majority of your nutrients would be coming from your food, there’s nothing wrong with supplementing a little to make sure you get a bit extra.
You’re Not Moving Enough
It may sound counterintuitive, but the more you move, the less tired you feel,—yet it’s true! You must remember that being sedentary can actually make you feel more tired. Regular exercise will boost your circulation and release endorphins that keep you energized. Even a quick walk can make a big difference in fighting off fatigue, and even improve your sleep at night.

Stress may be weighing you down more than you think it is. Mental exhaustion is just as tiring as physical sports, so if you’re experiencing chronic stress or anxiety, it’s probably taking its toll on your energy levels. Try to take the right steps towards a stress-free lifestyle. Perhaps you can practice mindfulness or take more breaks.
